Solenne Bennett is twenty-nine and has conquered the goals she planned for her twenties: a bachelor's degree, an exceptional career, and becoming a homeowner with her husband, Jonathan. Yet, she’s unfulfilled. Their routine is predictable and her insecurities rise with doubts about her ability to be as great a spouse to Jonathan as he is to her. Something needs to change.

Then Noel, an old college friend, shows up after years of silence asking a favor that requires a road trip with her to Los Angeles. Solenne’s lack of trust for Noel is blurred by the lure of adventure and the weekend delivers a sense of freedom reminiscent of old times. Until a car crash exposes Noel’s secrets and forces Solenne back to reality and the need to face her own shortcomings.

Meanwhile, Jonathan spends his time without Solenne reconnecting with friends left behind after the wedding. He is challenged to perform his poetry at an open-mic and a strong drive to prioritize his art is awakened. But he’s worried that the drastic change of choosing his passion over corporate life may not sit well with his wife.

Drive explores the battle of wanting more against appreciating what you have, the pressure to meet society’s standards against living for yourself, and finding healthy practices to heal from trauma. It is a story of three millennials navigating relatable highs and lows.

GOODBYE, HELLO: A SHORT STORY

September 10, 2019

Self-destructive.

The worst thing that could happen to herself is continuing to be herself.

Continuing to be where she is.

The need to be released has found her. Taking steps forward is difficult, seeing the chaos in the world is difficult. And anytime she sees a glimmer of confidence, any crumb of thought that could be her savior the words of those closest to her ears refill her with doubt.

Reminded of the worst in her, if there’s a best in her it’s unseen here.

The how is up to perception but the goal remains the same that she can’t stay the same. It’s time to let go and go.

Goodbye, Hello is a short story which follows a woman protagonist and her internal struggles that have long began to manifest externally. She has slipped into a state of uncontrollable indifference and the pain suffered in this space has not been enough for her to volunteer for relocation. Then she feels a shift happening inside of her, forcing her to escape and she has no choice but to abide regardless of heading into the unknown and being unsure of what she is to face when she leaves the world she has always known but can no longer bear to live in.

Release date being World Suicide Prevention Day and bringing awareness to the struggles people are faced with when enduring depression. Also leaving readers with the ultimate decision based on their perception as to whether the main character has acquired enough strength to say hello to a new life or solely say goodbye to the one she no longer desired to have.

When you realize that you can fly... Straight out the Midwest and on to the west coast. But it's more than the physical changes. It's the emotional and mental freedom of breaking down imaginary barriers that have successfully trapped so many. Freeing yourself from normalcy with the awareness that there are no limits unless you place them yourself. Twenty-one year-old Tamryn Bryant does not know what she aspires to be, but she knows she does not aspire to live an average life. So, she drops out of school and books a one-way flight from Cleveland, Ohio to Los Angeles, California and moves in with her cousin, twenty-six year-old Melanie Harper. Tamryn is seeking her calling, but in the midst of searching for herself, she stumbles upon undesirable discoveries that have stemmed from a past overflowing with pain and betrayal.
